Message:  After the initial "in vitro" culture is created it can then be multiplied usually using hormone cytokinin or cytokinin like compounds. As the explant grows and multiplies it is divided and subcultured until the desired mass of shoots is achieved and then they are transferred to a media that has a different hormone, auxin or auxin like compounds to inspire the cultured shoots to initiate roots so they will be viable when transplanted from their culture to the outside and normal media.
